I would like to discuss the above matter because of certain criteria that sometimes overlooked, mis-informed or confused by other people on who actual worked in construction project besides the civil engineers and the team. Often times that people will normally deal with them without knowing others and also seeing them in control of almost everything in construction works.
In this case, it is not true as they have to collaborate to other professionals which considered as one of the ‘family’ in that particular project. In terms of project coordination…it is so…as construction works involved largely of civil part. In any construction project, either as consultant or contractor they will need all the help they can get to complete the job without any circumstances.

Surveyor

- Surveyor (via Wikipedia )
Job Description:
Personal view; besides the quantity surveyor, this are the small group of workforce that involved directly with any construction project. In fact, they are among the first team to undergo an early investigation of the project site. Surveyors do different types of work such as measuring land, air space, and water areas. They will describe where a certain area of land is, what the structure looks like, and also measure the whole construction, mineral and dump sites.
I believe they have an enormous scope of works at hand, and must be physically fit to perform the hot-and-sunny job at site. Surveyors should be able to see objects, distances, sizes, and other forms in their minds. Their work has to be accurate all the time, because any significant error could cost a lot of money. Examples; Setting of road or runway alignments, bridge piers, piling points and foundation, embankment and pavement of road, and so on.
Scope of Works:
- Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites;
- Direct or conduct surveys in order to establish legal boundaries for properties, based on legal deeds and titles;
- Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features;
- Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain;
- Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys;
- Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas, using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS);
- Locate and mark sites selected for geophysical prospecting activities, such as efforts to locate petroleum or other mineral products;
- Survey bodies of water in order to determine navigable channels and to secure data for construction of breakwaters, piers, and other marine structures.
